This web site was launched on December 27th, 2004. In its first 34 days, twenty-five thousand one hundred twenty Newfoundlanders, Labradorians and Canadians, living in the province and around the world, combined to send over fifty-two thousand four hundred letters to Paul Martin, Ralph Goodale and Newfoundland and Labrador Members of Parliament. Relaunched on May 14th, 2005, the Fair Deal campaign has now surpassedKevin McCann is the Director of Online Development at Grassroots Enterprise, a public affairs firm in Washington D.C. that specializes in online campaigns.
Born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, Kevin left the island in 1997 after completing an Arts Degree majoring in English, History and Education at Memorial University. He spent one year teaching and traveling in Japan, and returned to Canada to attend the Master in Education program at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia. Moving to Washington in 2000, Kevin worked as a programmer for various start-ups and government contracts before joining the Grassroots team.
Since joining Grassroots Enterprise, Kevin has developed and launched online campaigns for Fortune 100 corporations, political campaigns, national non-profit groups and the United States government. Most recently he spoke at the PC Ontatario General Meeting about online strategies for e-campaigns.
A long-time believer in the power of the internet as a means to affect social and political change, this is the first time he has brought his skills to bear on a project based in Newfoundland and Labrador.
